Pause in posts

There will be no further posts on this blog until Tuesday 22 August.

I am conscious that a number of people who have sent me books for review, ideas for posts, et cetera, are still waiting for results. I will try to catch up somewhat on my return.

This is all very well, but what are the rest of us to do?

Can anyone suggest where we might best go for our daily fix over the next few days?

I know, Michael's blog is a daily must. But, he deserves a break after all his hard work. Why don't we post some interesting snippets here for others to read until Michael returns ...?

Have a look at mine. I like the GOB, so I can't be all bad.

Since Martin did it first, I'll plug my site, too: the Scott Stein. The GOB was nice enough to link to a couple of my posts, including a recent one about my accidental brush with Gordon Lish. But what I'm working on now are sites to promote my new novel, Mean Martin Manning, due out the end of the year--they're not done yet, but the one closest to being finished is Mean Martin Manning's site. Given the GOB's recent post about whether blogs can help sell a book, I'm curious to know what you all think about the site. There will be three other sites, all interactive and written by fictional characters from the novel. You can find them through Mean Martin Manning's blog, but don't worry what they look like now--I've barely worked on them yet. In a couple of weeks they'll be ready.

I was also surprised, not to say GOBsmacked, to read that blogs are useless if you want to sell your books. I bought Lisa's Dad thanks to the GOB blog, and I subsequently plugged it at my own site. Isn't that the all-important buzz?

I work in library supply - I also heard about Michael's books from the blog & have shifted 9 copies of Grumpy Old Bookman & 8 copies of Lisa's Dad... not huge numbers I know but it all adds up.

Your site is definitely a great source for literary pieces. I'm sure it will be of great help for a lot of poeple namely students, teahcers, scholars and writers. Keep up the good work.
